Houseboat cruise in Bekal

About this tour: In this tour we go on a full day excursion from Mangalore to Bekal (Kerala ) for a luxury houseboat cruise in the backwaters.

We will depart from Mangalore at 9 am, and drive approximately 2hrs south, to the Tejaswini River. The river originates from the Brahmagiri hills of Coorg forest in Karnataka, and flows through the districts of Kannur and Kasaragod before it meets the Arabian Sea near Nileswaram. We will board a houseboat and go for a day cruise in the backwaters, enjoying scenic views of palm trees, local villages, fishing boats, etc. Lunch will be cooked and served on board. Typically Kerala cuisine is served; both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available. We will disembark by 3 p.m. and return to Mangalore by 5:30 p.m.

On the way to Nileswaram, we will visit Ananthapura Lake Temple, which is the only temple in Kerala in the middle of a water body. The temple is dedicated to Vishnu, and the lake is home to a sacred crocodile.

We will also visit the historic Bekal Fort, which offers scenic views of the beach and ocean from the fort ramparts.

Tour timings:
9 am to 11 am – Mangalore to Bekal
11 am to 12 noon – Visit temple and fort
12 noon to 3 pm – Houseboat cruise with lunch on board
3 pm to 5 or 5:30 pm – return to Mangalore
